A question I’ve heard raised a lot in the last couple of years: how do you define a web engineer these days? Is it someone that exclusively builds UI’s? Someone who is writes tests? Works on integrations?
There’s a mythical expectation that a web developer needs to know every framework, every tool inside out.
Once you master the basics, every framework and tool is just another method of achieving the same thing.
It’s hard to write articles like this without immediately thinking about the impact of AI tooling but on this occasion I’ll try to ignore it for now.
